Justyn Cooking: Salmon Cakes
Justyn has been getting up really early the past couple of days for work. Like REALLY early. He wakes up at 3:25am and gets to work by 5:00am. Craziness. I mean... I thought getting up at 4:50 every morning was early. Anyway, since he's at work so early that also means he gets off work early at 2:00pm.
So tonight he was home early and I TOLD him to cook me dinner hah.. He decided to make salmon cakes. I thought it needed some sauce but other than that it turned out pretty good. What a good hubby for making his wife dinner tee hee!

Bored... :\
With Christmas gone (*sigh*), I don't have anything to make despite the fact that my sister bought me a bunch of new Papertrey stamps and ribbon. I also have a bunch of stuff I bought from twopeasinabucket.com. Well... poop.
Valentine's Day is coming up though! I have yet another reason to make stuff so tonight I made this little 2.5" x 2.5" card. I might turn it into a tag for Justyn's gift. I'm not sure yet. Just thought I'd share it with you guys :)
.JPG)
I guess I should also start listing supplies and instructions in case any of you are curious on how I did this.
Supplies:
Red cardstock (cut into a heart shape of your choice)
Black cardstock (2.5" x 2.5")
Acetate sheet (2 3/8" x 2 3/8")
Glue dots (adhere acetate square to black cardstock)
Pop "dots" (technically they were square but you can use anything to "pop" up the red heart to give it some dimension)
White pen (faux stitch & text)
Black & white ribbon (tie into a bow)
Note: I liked how the glue dots look against the black cardstock so I left them uncovered but if you want to cover them up you can. I wanted to make this card as simple as possible.

Date Night
Last night Justyn took me to see Benjamin Button which is an awesome movie! He thought it was on the slow side but still thought it was a good story line. Half way through the movie he looked so bored I asked him if he wanted to leave but he shook his head. Not bad for a 3 hour lovey dovey movie.
Afterward, we were gonna go get Chinese food but the restaurant looked eerily empty so we went to Ringer Hut instead for some ramen. I had the Champon ramen with gyoza and he ordered some California rolls with tuna taru (tuna tartare) over rice. It was the perfect end to a lovely evening out with the hubby.

Cooking: Sloppy Joe's
I was watching some TV over the past couple days and a commercial for Manwich kept coming up. I haven't had a sloppy joe in a LONG time so I decided to make it for tonight's dinner.
I must be getting rusty from not cooking for so long because I swear things were not going smoothly for me. Normally I'd have all my ingrediants out and prepped before I got to cooking but this time I was missing Montreal seasoning and Worcestershire sauce. I scrambled around the kitchen looking for this stuff and found the Montreal seasoning but not the Worcestershire sauce. I ended up substituting with A1 instead. That really bothered me so I think next week I'll cook at least three things to get my chops back.
Here's how it turned out. I didn't even feel like taking a decent picture but at least it tasted good. I served some sweet corn with it.
Here's the recipe I used: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/super-sloppy-joes-recipe/index.html

KWerner's Color Inspiration # 36

Awww crap! By the time I finished this card Kristina closed Mr. Linky from anymore submissions. I'm crushed. Oh well, at least I can still post this on my blog. *sigh*
So I added more detail to this card by poking holes to link the flowers together. I also wanted to try Kristina's tip on taking photos in natural light. Which picture do you guys like better? I'm kinda leaning more toward the one above. Gotta play around with it more to see though..
Happy New Year!!
It's 2009! Happy New Year everyone!
Last night I went to Nick & Christine's house to party it up with them and a buncha other friends. It was sooo fun! We started at their house...
And then walked over to a nearby bar..
The bar closed at 11pm.. WTF? So we went back to Nick & Christine's house for the countdown and ended up staying there until 3am before finally heading home.
Thanks goes out to Ken, Nick & Christine for having us over. I had so much fun!
